" Specializing in Black and White Fine Art Photography from FILM "
Photo graphy
I was fortunate to have a career as a professional freelance photographer specializing in outdoor high  action sports.  I am self taught and started out shooting downhill and cross country skiing.  Things grew to include mountain biking, flyfishing, kayaking, sailboarding etc.  My work has been published nationally and internationally and I have held commercial accounts with large outdoor companies including Patagonia, The North Face, Smith Sport Optics, Rossignol and Atomic.
Coming from a film background, i attempted to make the transition to digital when it became the dominant force in the photographic world.  I found that digital photography did not interest me.  It took the mystery and magic out of the art form.   Black and white film photography has an artistic and unique feel.  Black and white darkroom prints are fleeting honest moments without manipulation.  The truth of capturing the energy of the entire scene on a single frame of film is the essence of photography for me.  Having hands on experience of the entire process is important.  Shooting the image, processing the film and making silver gelatin prints in the darkroom are all part of the creative process.  Handpainting adds a personal touch and I apply oil paints to some of my work  depending on the image.  I love art in all of its various mediums and my goal is to create images that are unique with an edge.
